Introduction

One person.
Multiple disciplines.
One purpose.

My journey has never followed a single straight line.

I have moved between science laboratories, clinical research sites, quality systems, regulatory documentation, entrepreneurship, education, performance and DanceSport.

At first, these worlds may appear disconnected. To me, they are not.

Science taught me to ask questions.

Clinical research taught me the importance of evidence, quality and responsibility.

Quality taught me to pay attention to what others might overlook.

Entrepreneurship taught me to build.

Dance taught me discipline, expression, leadership and the courage to perform.

Together, these experiences shape how I think, work and create.

Five ways of working

Understanding the world through evidence, experimentation and curiosity.

Contributing to clinical research that can ultimately improve health and patient outcomes.

Protecting data integrity, compliance, consistency and trust.

Turning ideas into organisations, projects and opportunities.

Using movement, art and creativity to connect with people.

About Orifile

More than a job title.

I'm Orifile Lucky Molonyeni. I am a South African clinical research professional, biotechnology student, entrepreneur, dancer and creative thinker.

My professional career is centred around clinical research quality and regulatory work. I have developed experience across source data review, source document quality control, participant files, informed consent documentation, clinical trial documentation, data queries, metrics, training, regulatory documentation, study implementation and quality processes.

But my identity extends beyond my professional title.

I have been involved in DanceSport since 2009, including competition, coaching, leadership and performance. I have also built and developed entrepreneurial projects focused on creating opportunities through sport, arts, health and community development.

These experiences have taught me that professional growth is not always linear. Sometimes the most valuable skills come from places that appear unrelated.

The attention to detail I developed in science helps me in clinical research. The discipline I developed through dance helps me in professional environments. The leadership I developed through community and creative work influences how I approach entrepreneurship. And clinical research has taught me how much responsibility comes with working in environments where evidence, people and quality intersect.

My story

The journey

Select any year to read more.

I began my DanceSport journey and discovered an environment that would eventually teach me discipline, performance, competition, coaching and leadership.

I became involved in the leadership and teaching environment of the NGDA, developing experience as a tutor and deputy chair.

I began studying Biotechnology at the University of the Western Cape.

I became involved with UWC DanceSport, combining academic life with competitive and creative development.

I represented university-level DanceSport and received South African university colours.

Through to 2023 I continued developing dance, performance, coaching and entrepreneurial initiatives, including Falcon Dansport Academy and later the Falcon Sports Arts & Culture Foundation.

I entered the clinical research environment through quality-focused work and began developing practical experience in clinical trial operations and quality.

My clinical research experience expanded across quality control, source data review, study coordination support, documentation, training, regulatory processes and clinical trial operations.

I progressed into a Clinical Research Quality and Regulatory Coordinator role while continuing my academic, entrepreneurial and creative development.

I am building a career that connects science, research, quality, innovation, entrepreneurship and creativity.

Beyond borders

Learning from the global research community.

My clinical research journey has also opened opportunities to engage with international research environments. One of the experiences that stands out is participating in an MSD EMEA Region Investigators Meeting in London.

For me, international exposure is not simply about travel. It is about seeing how people from different countries, systems and professional backgrounds approach the same global challenges.

It strengthened my belief that Africa has an important role to play in the future of global clinical research.

Always learning

Professional development should never stop.

My academic and professional journey has not always been linear. That is part of the story.

I have learned that progress is not always measured by how quickly you move. Sometimes it is measured by your ability to keep moving.

Personal manifesto

My Protocol

I want to remain curious.

I want to build rather than only talk about ideas.

I want to work with evidence, not assumptions.

I want quality to mean more than compliance.

I want technology to serve people rather than replace humanity.

I want Africa to be recognised not only as a place where research happens, but as a place where research, innovation and solutions are created.

I want creativity to remain part of my life.

And I want every chapter of my journey — science, research, entrepreneurship, dance and everything still to come — to contribute to something bigger than myself.

Research with purpose. Quality with integrity. Creativity with impact.
Clinical Research, Quality & Regulatory

Professional philosophy

Quality is more than finding mistakes.

Good quality is not simply about identifying problems. It is about understanding why something happened, determining what matters, creating appropriate corrective action and strengthening the system so the same issue is less likely to happen again.

I believe quality should enable teams to perform better — not simply document that something went wrong.

Accuracy. Accountability. Evidence.

Proportionality. Continuous improvement.

Participant safety. Data integrity.

I'm open to clinical research opportunities, quality and regulatory collaborations and research discussions.

Science & Research

Curious about better questions.

My interests sit around the intersection of clinical research, health, technology, quality and innovation.

Where the journey started

Science

My academic background is in Biotechnology at the University of the Western Cape. Biotechnology introduced me to the scientific principles behind biological systems, research and technological innovation.

Molecular BiologyMicrobiologyGeneticsGenetic EngineeringBiochemistryPCRDNA sequencingMicrobial cultureScientific researchData analysisLaboratory methodology

But studying science also taught me something beyond technical knowledge: how to think critically.

Science encourages curiosity. It requires evidence. It teaches that assumptions should be tested. Those principles continue to influence the way I approach clinical research, quality and innovation.

Areas I am interested in

Six questions I keep returning to.

Clinical Research in Africa

How can African countries strengthen their role in global clinical research? How can research become more accessible, efficient and sustainable? How can investigator sites build stronger quality systems?

Data Integrity

Reliable research depends on reliable data. I am interested in how quality systems, technology and human behaviour influence the integrity of clinical research data.

Quality by Design

Quality should not only be inspected into a process. It should be considered from the beginning.

Digital Transformation

Clinical research is becoming increasingly digital. I am interested in eSource, digital systems, automation, artificial intelligence and technologies that can improve research operations without losing the human element.

AI & Clinical Research

AI has the potential to transform research operations, data review, documentation, knowledge management and participant identification — but responsible implementation requires care.

  • Data integrity
  • Privacy
  • Validation
  • Bias
  • Human oversight
  • Regulatory expectations
  • Patient safety

Health Innovation

I am particularly interested in how technology and research can contribute to better health outcomes in African communities.

Falcon

Building through sport & culture.

Before clinical research became a major part of my professional life, I was already building through sport and creative arts.

Falcon Dansport Academy grew from my involvement in DanceSport and developed into broader work through the Falcon Sports Arts & Culture Foundation.

The experience taught me about:

LeadershipEvent managementCoachingCommunity developmentYouth developmentTeam buildingEntrepreneurshipCreative production

These experiences continue to influence how I approach business today.

Interested in partnership or collaboration?

Dance & Creative Arts

Before the professional titles, there was dance.

I have been involved in Ballroom and Latin DanceSport since 2009.

Dance has shaped much more than my ability to perform.

Discipline. Consistency. Confidence.

Leadership. Communication. Performance.

Resilience. Creativity.

Dance experience

Competition, coaching and community.

  • Ballroom & Latin DanceSport
  • Competitive dancing
  • Coaching
  • Choreography
  • Dance education
  • Leadership
  • Performance
  • Event participation
  • Youth development

I have competed at USSA DanceSport Games and represented provincial and university environments. I have also worked with dancers and students through coaching and development initiatives.

Creative philosophy

Creativity is not separate from science.

I don't see creativity as something that exists only on a stage.

Creativity is problem-solving. Creativity is communication. Creativity is seeing possibilities where others see limitations.

Whether I am reviewing clinical research documentation, developing an entrepreneurial idea, creating a dance routine or thinking about a new project, the same principle applies:

Think differently. Build deliberately. Improve continuously.

Workshops, coaching, choreography or creative collaboration?
